Each meet of the season is structured similarly to short-track motor racing with two heat races and a consolation race in each class. In both classes, each heat race is six minutes plus one lap. Each heat features 20 riders with the top nine advancing to the feature race. The other 22 riders are relegated to the consolation race, also known as the Last Chance Qualifier, which is five minutes plus one lap, with the top four of that race advancing to the final.
The first five races of the season will take place at various venues in California before heading to Detroit for an indoor race at Ford Field. The season will finish up in Salt Lake City.
